This webinar explains how Flownex can be used to model gas turbine combustors by combining flow distribution, combustion, and heat transfer calculations within a single 1D network simulation environment. The presenter shows how empirical correlations, chemical equilibrium combustion calculations, film cooling, radiation, convection, and conduction models are integrated to predict airflow splits, combustion temperatures, and liner wall temperatures. A benchmark study based on a NASA combustor demonstrated good agreement with experimental data, with liner temperature prediction errors between 1% and 13%. The webinar also highlights Flownex's fast solving times, Excel integration, parameter studies, and coupling capabilities with CFD and FEA tools such as ANSYS Fluent and Mechanical. Finally, a live demonstration illustrates how complex combustor geometries can be represented using drag-and-drop components and analyzed efficiently for design and optimization studies.
