This video introduces a new Flownex 2025 Release 3 feature that plots solver residuals during each iteration to help users diagnose convergence problems more effectively. By displaying the behaviour of pressure, continuity, temperature, and other residuals, users can identify which solver or parameter is preventing convergence. In the demonstrated refrigeration cycle, the residual plots reveal that temperature-related calculations are the primary source of instability, leading the user to adjust relaxation parameters for the energy solver and two-phase heat transfer model. These changes ultimately result in successful convergence, with the residual plot clearly showing all residuals decreasing below the convergence criteria. The feature helps engineers troubleshoot complex networks more efficiently, reducing time spent on model setup, debugging, and analysis.
