ABSTRACT
Combined heat and power (CHP) is an efficient solution to produce sustainable energy. Cogeneration with reheat steam turbines, supercritical parameters, and two steam consumers (SC) could improve the efficiency and reduce the environmental impact. The paper presents an original methodology for the design of cogeneration supercritical steam power plants with two SC, considering four objective functions. The best configuration and steam parameters are found by parametric and heuristic optimization. From the multi-objective Pareto frontier, pairs of Pareto solutions are analyzed. The statistical analyses of the Pareto average solutions show: a tight interval of 42.88–45.09 % for the exegetic efficiency, a global efficiency of 58.15–75.43 % that is increasing strongly with the SC mass flow rate, specific investments between 1747–2390 $/kW, and a decreasing with SC pressures of power to heat ratio in full cogeneration mode 0.56–0.82. The optimum reheat pressure depends on the high-pressure turbine design. The results correspond to the data from the literature.
